Executive Producer & Organizer
Amanda Thrower is a writer, marketing extraordinaire, design expert, and TED fanatic. Always drawn to the remarkable stories of everyday people, Thrower pursued a path of journalism after earning a B.A. in English from Michigan State University. She began her career at Bloomberg in New York. A year and a half later, she moved to California to write and produce stories for NBC San Diego—at three in the morning. Stuck between the rigid confines of reporting news and her desire to paint the world more profoundly than 30-second sound bites offered, she transitioned into a marketing role where she applied her creativity to several ventures. Managing brand identity, press releases, and marketing, she has enjoyed transforming thought into form. Thrower is co-chair of The La Jolla Foundation, Inc. She is a triathlete and runner, and avidly believes that movement will keep us thriving. She is currently pursuing here MFA in Fiction at Columbia University and writing a historical fiction novel based on a female journalist in post-WWII China.
